Self Portrait In C: The Interruptance of A Klien Bottle (2022)

24” X 16” X 10”

Society V Self,,,Containment,,,Ceramic,,,Rope,,,

The Klein Bottle is a topographical 4th dimensional theoretical math object. Its non-orientable surface is constructed of non-definable vectors, a vessel of mathematical perfection. A vessels which insides are its outsides: transparent, honest, authentic. Self Portrait in C shows the interuptace of perfection playing on math theorems and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. With ropes representing society and media’s effects on hindering our ability to achieve self-actualization. Rather than serving as a container the vessel is contained.

The construction of this piece is inspired by Japanese Raku ware and Shibari.
