ASTGMATISM #1: Highway In The Rain (2022) is the first painting of the “Our Beautiful World“ series focusing on the often overlooked simple beauties of our day to day life. Capturing the i84 Banfield in a winters storm is a representation of Portland. A beauty many might never see A beauty taken for granted by those who see it every day.

The Banfield is especially important to me as my first stage name was Lue Banfield: after the i84. In efforts to differentiate this moniker from the Banfield Pet Hospital chain, I made my social media handle @LIKETHEHIGHWAY. In the summer of 2019 I was booked for a gig where I was put down as LIKETHEHIGHWAY and it stuck ever since,,,I dont see how i could be called anything else as early illustraitions of the innerowrkigns of my mind show me drawing my brain like a highway,,,with all thougths existing at onse swirilng aorund going to and fro,,,you can jump into one car and live in that thought/moment/experiance but the soudns of the other thoughts will always remain in the background,,,I exist as multititued,,,like the highway I am many and one all at once,,,thus,,, I am LIKETHEHIGHWAY
